Dr Arwid Mednis is an attorney at law and a partner heading TMT practice at Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland. He specialises in administrative law, particularly telecommunications law, data protection and public-private partnerships.
He was a member of the Research Council of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection and is the author or co-author of legislative proposals concerning data protection and exchange of commercial information. From 1991 to 2001 Dr Mednis represented Poland on the Data Protection Committee at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and served as chairman from 1998 to 2000.
Dr Mednis has extensive experience working for the telecommunications sector. He appeared in a number of judicial and administrative proceedings for Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. He participated in the creation of one of the three major mobile network operators in Poland. He advised on three proceedings for concessions for mobile telephone networks and negotiations of interconnection agreements for fixed-line and mobile operators on behalf of a mobile operator and a local fixed-line operator. He often represents clients in regulatory matters and judicial and administrative proceedings.
Dr Mednis is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. He is the author of numerous publications on telecommunications law, data protection, e-business and administrative law. He regularly speaks at conferences and seminars on these issues.
For many years, Dr Mednis has been recognised by the leading Polish and international directories as a leader in the field of telecommunications law and data protection.
