Anna Rizova is the managing partner of Wolf Theiss in Bulgaria and one of the most established advisers in the country. She has had central and unique roles in Bulgaria’s landmark transactions of the past two decades.
Being general counsel in the sectors of energy and telecoms, Anna has strong competition and regulatory experience in leading Bulgarian companies in the most dynamically developing sectors of the economy. Leveraging this expertise, Anna has advised and represented national and international clients on a broad range of regulatory and commercial matters. Anna focuses on competition issues and has considerable expertise in anti-trust matters – dominance cases, agreements and concerted practices, entailing horizontal and vertical competition law issues (cooperation agreements, distribution, agency agreements, etc), merger control, competition law compliance advice (training programmes). She has specialist know-how in sectors such as telecoms, energy, food industry and consumer goods, retail and pharmaceuticals.
Anna was lead counsel providing regulatory, compliance and competition law advice to and representing South Stream Transport before Bulgarian regulatory and government authorities with regard to structuring operations and ownership of the project in Bulgaria with a view to competition law and Third Energy Package requirements for unbundling of ownership, access to infrastructure, on structuring procurement procedures for compliance with the EU and Bulgarian State Aid and competition framework; advising a global pharmaceutical company on structuring its distribution network and distribution agreements and compliance with Bulgarian and EU competition law; advising on competition and compliance matters the world’s fastest growing ride-sharing services provider on their entry into and operations on the Bulgarian market.
