Leopoldo Pagotto is the partner at Freitas Leite in charge of the antitrust, anti-corruption and compliance practices. He advises companies in several industries, such as banking, telecommunications, IT, mining, shipbuilding, car parts, infrastructure, and pharmaceutical.
Leopoldo Pagotto has a solid academic background. He holds an LLM in financial-economic law (2005) with the thesis about the competition among the financial institutions and a PhD in financial-economic law, Law School of the University of São Paulo (USP) (2010) with the dissertation about anti-corruption. His MsC in regulation at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) (2005) also discusses competition law matters.
Besides being an approved Anti-Corruption & Compliance private practitioner by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA), Leopoldo has been recognised by Chambers and Partners as a foreign expert in competition law and M&A for Japanese clients. He was also considered to be one of the ‘40 under 40’ by the Global Investigations Review in the category internal investigations.
Currently, he is the senior vice-chair of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and external consultant of the FGV Ethics. Leopoldo was reporter for the Chamber No. 20 and the Chamber No. 1 of the Ethics Tribunal of the Brazilian Bar Association, São Paulo Chapter.
