Mtre James A Woods, senior partner of the firm, has practised exclusively in litigation and arbitration since 1976, pleading at all levels of the federal and provincial courts in Ontario and Quebec including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also acted as an arbitrator either as president or member of an arbitration tribunal and has acted as attorney in many commercial and international arbitrations, either ad hoc or ICC. Member of the Faculty of Law and lecturer in civil litigation at McGill University. Author of Cases and Materials in Civil Procedure (Carswell Legal Publications, 1987) and numerous articles and papers, including ‘Measuring the Results of Class Actions’, International Bar Association Conference on Class actions, Rome, 2007.  Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyer, Litigation Counsel of America, Federation of Defence and Corporate Counsel, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London) and Litigation Counsel of America.  Member of the panel of arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. Member of CIA, CBA, QBA, LSUC, LSBC, LSA, LSEW, ABA, IBA, LCIA, AAJ, FDCC, CCAC, Diversity Law Institute and The Trial Law Institute.  Called to the Bars of Quebec in 1976 and Ontario in 1979, Alberta and British Columbia in 2006, England and Wales in 2007 and the Barreau de Paris in 2013.  Recipient of the Quebec Bar title, Advocatus Emeritus in 2013.
