Apisith John Sutham is the founder and managing partner of Apisith & Alliance, a mid-sized independent commercial law firm in Bangkok. His legal practice and experience are broad-based, covering a wide spectrum of corporate, commercial, transactional, finance and international trade laws including trade remedy investigations, international commercial arbitration, cross-border commercial transactions, outbound and inbound foreign investment, capital market, investment funds and mergers and acquisitions. John has extensive experience representing Thai and foreign clients in antidumping and safeguards investigations as well as advising industries on trade and investment strategy. He advised Thai and multinational clients on mergers and acquisitions in various industries ranging from agribusiness to software/digital advertising, cross-border transactions including international joint ventures and acquisitions of assets and business aboard, as well as offshore transactions and establishment of legal entities in foreign countries.
John has been named as leading lawyer for Thailand by Chambers Asia-Pacific and as expert in Who’s Who Legal. Through his leadership and guidance, Apisith & Alliance is recognized as Asialaw’s recommended firm for corporate/M&A and energy & natural resources for Thailand as well as IFLR1000’s notable firm for capital market.
He has taught courses in international economic law at the LL.M. business law programs of Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Law since 2005. He has written and lectured extensively on topics related to international trade and business law, as well as conducting workshops for government officials and organizations such as the International Institute for Trade and Development in Bangkok and the Asian Development Bank.
Apisith John Sutham received his juris doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1991 and an MBA degree from the Solvay Business School, Free University of Brussels in 1994. He has been a member of the New York bar since 1991.
