Dr. Klaus Dimigen (Partner) advises banks in the area of the restructuring of long term ship financing loans as well as the separation of banking syndicates related to long term ship financings. He further gives advice to banks and shipowners in connection with the termination, enforcement and transfer of shipping loans. He gives advice to shipowners regarding the sale, purchase and construction of vessels and the entering into charter and management contracts. He also gives advice on all corporate and insolvency related issues. He has been engaged in litigation proceedings – mostly on the shipowners' side – in German and English court and arbitration cases.

Dr. Dimigen is a member of the International Bar Association, the advisory board of the Marshall Islands Quality Council and lecturer and author at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. Further, he is admitted to legal practice by the District Court in the City of Hamburg, Germany and by the High Court in Majuro, the Republic of the Marshall Islands. As one of the very few holders of a Marshall Islands bar admission he frequently provides opinion letters related to this jurisdiction to an increasing number of international clients, mostly related to shipping, real estate and aircraft transactions, and is involved in litigation cases in the Marshall Islands.

Dr. Dimigen studied at the University of Passau, Germany. Having started to work for ERG in 1993, he joined as a lawyer in 1997 and has been a partner of the firm since 2001. He completed his doctoral degree at the University of Hamburg with a maritime thesis on “Bareboat-charter and Bareboat-registration”.
