Heiko Tschauner helps clients in complex financial restructurings and insolvency situations. As head of our German Business Restructuring and Insolvency Practice he knows how to find solutions in challenging distressed situations. He advised on one of the first German debtor in possession proceedings under the redefined German insolvency law "ESUG" and successfully implemented several insolvency plans.

In addition, Heiko assists investors with distressed investments and provides practical advice to protect clients against insolvency risks, for example via double sided trust structures. He further has successfully handled lots of claw back and management liability cases in an insolvency context.

From dealing with several distressed supplier cases Heiko has developed a deep understanding of the automotive industry. Over the last 15 years he also dealt with several cases in the telecommunications, renewable energy, pharmaceutical, aircraft, retail, real estate and media industries.

Clients regard Heiko as "highly professional, responsive, friendly to work with and tough in negotiations" (Chambers Global 2014). They give credit "for his technical expertise, excellent language skills and broad knowledge of insolvency law" (Chambers Global 2015). Heiko holds a doctorate degree in law, is admitted to the bar in Germany and is a member of the restructuring and insolvency associations TMA Germany and INSOL Europe.
