Kjetil Vågen joined CLP in 2008 and has been a partner at the law firm CLP since 2013. Vågen advises clients with mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, trademark law, competition law, franchise contracts, distribution agreements, joint venture agreements, supply agreements, lease agreements, bankruptcy and contract law. Vågen is considered a leading retail and franchise lawyer in Norway, and works closely with Norwegian Franchise, an independent member association working to create a meeting place and promote knowledge and ethical use of the franchise method in Norway.
Vågen has extensive experience related to assistance for clients within the retail/trade segment and represents a number of the largest retail players in the Norwegian market within consumer electronics, cosmetics, food and beverages, books, furniture, optics, sports goods and other consumer goods. Vågen works among other things with negotiation of master franchise agreements, direct franchise agreements, licensing agreements, purchase and sale of franchise chains and franchisees, supplier agreements, leases, trademarks, bankruptcy and dispute resolution. Vågen advise both Norwegian, Nordic and international chains, and has considerable experience in international franchise structures where he primarily assists franchisor.
Vågen has extensive experience in national and cross-border activities interrelated to cash management and foreign exchange operations. He has worked extensively on issues related to parallel importation of trademarked goods, and has experience in litigation in this area of the EFTA Court in Luxembourg. Vågen also assist industrial clients and professional real estate investors with real estate transactions.
