Mr. Tong-Keun SEOL is currently serving as a senior partner at Lee & Ko and is leading the firm’s highly recognized Environment, Health & Safety practice group. With over 19 years of diverse and extensive experience in the field of environmental law, Mr. Seol is a true expert, who is recognized as such amongst his peers as well as by the relevant governmental agencies.
Mr. Seol’s experience extends both the transactional and litigation aspects of environmental law practice. Highlights of his extensive practice include, but in no way limited to, climate change, emissions rights trading, CDM and renewable energy projects. Mr. Seol further advised and represented clients in CDM projects as well as disputes involving CERs distributions and allocations of emissions rights. Mr. Seol’s practice also includes pre-acquisition diligence, license and permit acquisitions, establishment and implementation of standard operation procedures for clients to ensure compliance with the Act on the Registration & Evaluation of Chemical Substances, the Chemical Control Act, the Occupational Safety & Health Act, and other applicable laws.
In addition to his extensive transaction and litigation experience and as a testament to his industry recognition, Mr. Seol has served as a legal advisor and counsel for multiple public and private agencies, including the Ministry of Environment (2012~2017), the Korea New & Renewable Energy Association, and the Mine Reclamation Corporation. Furthermore, Mr. Seol was appointed and is serving as a mediator of the Seoul Environment Dispute Resolution Commission (2012~2018) and a secretary of the Special Environment Conservation Committee of Seoul Bar Association.
Mr. Seol received an LL.B. degree from Korea University College of Law in 1993 and was admitted to the Korean Bar in 2001.
