Helena Tapp Barroso joined the firm in 2006 and became a firm partner in 2010. She is a member of the labour and social security team and a co-leader of the firm’s data protection team.
Helena provides regular legal counselling in labour and corporate law, regularly assisting clients in business areas such as TMT’s, IT and software, automobile industry, pharmaceutical industry, distribution, insurance and financial activities. Helena is extensively involved in personal data processing compliance and counseling, including filing and contacts with the Portuguese authority, data transfer files (including cross-border) and privacy policies and assessments. She also develops relevant litigation activity.
Helena Tapp Barroso teaches regularly in the postgraduate studies in Labour Law at the Law Faculty of the University of Lisbon and in the postgraduate studies in Business Law at the Law Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University. She was an assistant professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Lisbon, from 1989 to 2001 in the areas of civil (tort and contracts), commercial and labour law. She is often invited to participate in seminars, conferences and postgraduate courses and is an author and co-author of articles and books on commercial and labour law. Helena obtained her law degree and a master’s degree in Commercial Law and Capital Markets at the Law School of the Portuguese Catholic University.
Before having joined the firm, Helena practised law at two other major Portuguese law firms.
