Van Traa is a niche firm specialised in high-end transport, insurance and liability and international trade matters. Van Traa is one of the very few firms in the Netherlands, and is recognised as such in the market, with the expertise and the required experience to deal with legally complex issues in all aspects of transport law including aviation, rail, road, multimodal and marine insurance. Van Traa’s insurance and liability department predominantly acts for domestic and international insurers. Most of the firm’s work comprises contentious work.
For both the insurance and the transport sector Van Traa deals with complex matters (eg, fire accidents, plane and train crashes, natural disasters) leading to major (personal) impact and heavy financial consequences. Van Traa’s aim is to strategically support its clients by managing crisis situations also for instance on operational and PR level.
Van Traa’s aviation department handled the Afriqiyah Airways crash (Libya, 2010) and the Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash (Ukraine, 2014).
