News in brief from around the world… Amneal Pharmaceuticals got regulatory clearance to acquire Impax Laboratories in the US on Friday, while a dispute over a failed tie up between Akorn Pharmaceuticals and Germany’s Fresenius has seen the two companies exchange harsh words in court in Delaware. Samsung Biologics meanwhile has come under investigation from the Korean financial regulator amid allegations it violated accounting rules.

News in brief from around the world…The past week has seen Covington & Burling set up shop in Frankfurt with Belgian pharma partner Adem Koyuncu on board. A US court has thrown out an FTC case against Shire, and an arbitral tribunal has held Ecuador liable mistreating Merck. Meanwhile, in a first for a Chinese state entity, MOFCOM has asked for 15 minutes of the Supreme Court’s time to argue against a vitamin C cartel charge.

News in breif from around the world...Recent weeks have seen the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal order that a whistleblower claim against Shering-Plough and Merck to be reheard in California and an order by an Australian court allowing vaginal mesh liability claims to be served on a US company. Meanwhile the UK Competion Appeal Tribunal issued its first pay-for-delay decision, the European Parliament approved the EMA's relocation to Amsterdam, and four local pharma companies ran afoul of Egypt's competition enforcer.
